The Australasian Colloid and Interface Society (ACIS) is hosting its first ECR conference as an online event on Friday the 22nd of May 2020 (AEST). Importantly, the event is free and run at no cost to the attendees.
The event is part of our commitment to nurturing early career researchers (ECRs). It will take place over one day, online, where ECRs can present their research and connect with an international and domestic audience. ACIS encourages domestic and international ECRs to attend digitally with time-zones being taken into consideration for scheduling.
The theme for this conference is “My Dream Team” where attendees are encouraged to take advantage of the current global research lock-down (COVID-19) to present forward thinking ideas and reflect on the collaborations they want in the future. Post talk discussions will help refine and generate new ideas and provide both networking and career development opportunities.
More details:
- A virtual symposium over a 24 h period with presentations from ECRs in the Colloid and Interface field
from around the world. The aim is to make connections and generate new ideas.
- 15 minute talks slots (~10 min presentation + 5 min discussion/changeover). Presenters should provide a background of their research experience and then pitch what external expertise would allow them to achieve their ideal research. Pitches can involve broad research interests and/or address specific issues (e.g. partial datasets needing a complementing technique, or collections of ideas that need a common thread)
- Additional discussion encouraged on twitter with graphical abstract linked to each talk.
